Agricultural building research & the Periurban

Agricultural buildings dominate the countryside.

Their reutilisation in periurban areas is important in rural diversification and in maintaining a living countryside. Ängelkott's doctoral thesis analysed agricultural buildings and their properties using statistical data and field surveys in order to identify key issues concerning sustainable reutilisation in tourism and the Swedish periurban context.

The findings of the study may help understand the influence of spatial issues on reutilisation of agricultural buildings in tourism and assist authorities in addressing problems concerning owners, conservation and utilisation.

Rural development

Ängelkott has his roots in rural development issues as his MSc thesis was based on a comparative study of rural development issues of Hungary and North Northumberland.

The company, Ängelkottskompaniet, is a micro-sized company with its headquarters located in the most rural, northeastern corner of the Scanian countryside. Ängelkott and Bitte having both lived and worked in other deep-rural areas as well (such as Stöllet in Northern Värmland), understand the difficulties and problems in this type of countryside, the challenges and opportunities it offers.
